“With this memorandum, the “Civil Contract” and “Republic” factions will manage the city of Yerevan together, and this means that the appointments in the executive will also be mutually agreed upon, and these two factions will carry out the general management.” Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan said this during the press conference following the meeting of the Yerevan Council of Elders, clarifying what the signing of the memorandum entails.
To the journalist’s question, will the post of deputy mayor go to the “Republic” faction? The mayor of Yerevan answered, “All the details will be known at the meetings.”
“All these questions refer to our internal discussions, and as a result, we will present all those officials who should take responsibility in the executive branch,” said Tigran Avinyan.
In addition, the head of the “Republic” faction, Artak Zeynalyan, said: “The state position is not a piece of cake. It takes service and hard work. It is an assumption of responsibility; once again, it is not a gift given to anyone.”
