Adrienne Watson, head of the press service of the White House National Security Council, addressed the humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and called for continued humanitarian access to Nagorno-Karabakh for the benefit of all those in need.
Watson, in particular, stated: “We received with pain the news that at least 68 people were killed and hundreds of people were injured as a result of the explosion at the fuel depot in Nagorno Karabakh, and we express our deepest sympathy to the residents of Nagorno Karabakh and all the victims. We urge you to ensure continued humanitarian access to Nagorno-Karabakh to benefit all those in need. The United States will continue to support those affected by the ongoing crisis. USAID Administrator Samantha Power is in the region, and today, the United States is announcing additional humanitarian assistance to meet medical and other emergency needs to support local communities in providing shelter and essential items such as hygiene kits, blankets, and clothing to Nagorno-Karabakh. To meet the needs of those affected or displaced by the violence in Karabakh. Since 2020, we have supported conflict-affected communities in Nagorno-Karabakh and the region in providing food, water, emergency medical aid, evacuation, and family reunification.”
