“Are we against the reopening of the Horadiz-Meghri-Ordubad-Yerask railway?” No, we are not against it; on the contrary, we are in favor of it, and we think that it is an essential project for Armenia,” said Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
He noted that Armenia is also in favor of opening transport routes, “We are in favor of both Azerbaijan and Turkey, as well as the western regions of Nakhichevan, communicating through the territory of Armenia,” he said. According to Pashinyan, they favor gas pipelines, oil pipelines, and power lines passing through the territory of Armenia. “All that should happen within the limits of Armenia’s sovereignty and jurisdiction.”
Pashinyan stressed that any statement questioning Armenia’s sovereignty or jurisdiction in any way is unacceptable to them. According to him, it is a red line.
He reminded that according to the announcement of November 9, 2020, only the Lachin corridor is planned as a corridor with a specific limitation of sovereignty; no hall is scheduled in the territory of Armenia. According to him, it is essential to avoid creating confusion in the ears of the international community.
He noted that when using the word “corridor,” the term “corridor” mentioned in the tripartite declaration is also considered, so often when a road is called a corridor, it is perceived differently in Armenia.
