RA MFA issued a statement in which, in particular, it is said:
“We consider it necessary to emphasize the following about the statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan after the speech of RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at the session of the RA government on September 7, 2023.
Azerbaijani users of social networks and the media themselves have published information indicating the accumulation of Azerbaijani troops near the Armenia-Azerbaijan border and along the contact line of Nagorno-Karabakh, which is also confirmed by data from other sources.
In the speech above, the RA Prime Minister stated that RA is committed to the agreements reached on October 6, 2022, in Prague, October 31, 2022, in Sochi, and May 14, 2023, in Brussels, which reaffirmed mutual unconditional recognition of each other’s territorial integrity by Armenia and Azerbaijan. Armenia has no territorial claims against Azerbaijan and expects the same from Azerbaijan, which has yet to publicly confirm its commitment to these agreements.
Armenia is not interested in military escalation; in the past, it has proposed and is now offering mechanisms to exclude such risks, which have remained unanswered until now. It is ready to discuss introducing other practical tools as well.
RA is ready to continue making active efforts to complete the work on the draft peace and relations regulation agreement with Azerbaijan and sign it as soon as possible.
RA is committed to the agenda of peace and stability in the South Caucasus while emphasizing the need for similar rhetoric and practical impulses from official Baku.
It is evident that the blocking of the Lachin Corridor, the established humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh, and the lack of Baku-Stepanakert dialogue within the framework of the international mechanism do not contribute to the improvement of the atmosphere in the region.”
