The French “Total,” the country’s energy giant and one of the most important beneficiaries of geopolitics, is implementing multi-billion dollar investment projects in Azerbaijan.
The other day, the head of “Total” (from 2021, “Total Energy”) was discussing the following projects with Aliyev in Baku.
Is the French giant doing something wrong? Of course, any such cooperation with Azerbaijan could be better for us. But, in a broad sense, the French giant is doing just what the British, Russian, American, and all other giants have done, are doing, and will do. They do it because they are giants, and they do it to stay giants. “Total” is the fourth-largest oil company in the world.
Simply put, when someone tries to examine the possible political footnotes and layers of French humanitarian actions without excessive admiration and exclamations before subjecting those people to “inquisition,” just compare the volume of French trucks parked in Kornidzor on almost the same days with the investment plans discussed by the president of “Total” in Baku.
It would help if you compared not being upset with France to not being concerned with France later. Only we can be responsible for our simplicity, our economic and political giants,” who turn an entire public organism into a flag-waving or burning one with a “dwarf” worldview and mindset.
By the way, it is worth remembering that in October 2014, the plane of the president of “Total” crashed after colliding with one of the service vehicles on the runway at Vnukovo airport in Moscow, and the president was killed. The investigation “found” that the driver of the service vehicle was intoxicated. Of course, drunken employees are a legitimate phenomenon in Russian reality, but… who knows?”
