Radar Armenia‘s interlocutor is Vahram Atanesyan, a former member of the Central Committee of Armenia and NKR National Assembly.
– President of the Republic of Armenia Arayik Harutyunyan announced that the issue of his resignation was also discussed at yesterday’s meeting. What consequences can the president’s resignation have in the current situation? Do you see risks?
– The problem is not Arayik Haryutyunyan and his resignation. Who will replace him, and what will he do? Has this issue been discussed? Based on the information we have, no. And if there is no plan or concept for tomorrow, what difference does it make? Who conducts a session of the security council in the presidential office? If someone in Artsakh longs to sit on the president’s chair to add a line to his biography, it is a tragedy. And not just personal. And if Arayik Harutyunyan is forced to leave so that Artsakh is “Sardarapat,” as some say, then we are dealing with the inevitability of the apocalypse. I have no other comment, so I consider that the political “common denominator” should be found first. Only then can it be discussed who is more competent and able to implement what is agreed upon. As far as I understand, there needs to be an overall assessment of the situation and outcome, at least for now.
– If Araik Harutyunyan resigns, who do you see in that position, and can the change of the president solve problems?
– I answered that question. It is necessary to clarify the legal-political basis on which the Baku-Stepanakert dialogue can be built.
– According to Azerbaijani media, Azerbaijan is sending humanitarian aid to Artsakh. Is this step not understandable for the international community? Does it not fit in the context of humanitarianism?
– It is not a humanitarian step but an information-propaganda and psychological aggression. There is no need to elaborate more.
– Yesterday, the Azerbaijani side again kidnapped Artsakh citizens from the checkpoint, who were transported to Armenia by Russian peacekeepers. Who is responsible for what happened?
– Of course, the command of the Russian peacekeeping troops. If there is no explicit guarantee of safety, why are people being transported? But that military group has been subject to Azerbaijan’s whims for a long time, which is impossible without the tacit consent of the highest Russian political power. Today, of course, is not the time to touch such “delicate” issues, primarily to process them. The crisis must be overcome, but the problem needs serious discussion.
– What can Armenia do to change the situation? Are there steps that Armenia still needs to take?
– The only step that is under Armenia’s responsibility is not to take irresponsible action. So far, Yerevan is successfully facing all the intrigues.
– Does Artsakh have a chance to maintain the current status quo and not integrate with Azerbaijan?
– The status quo of November 9 does not exist; what should Artsakh preserve?
