“Artik” was awarded the title of the winner of the A-League basketball regular season. In a spectacular and intense battle, the team won the championship with a score of 95:86 over “Urartu” in the final.
“Artik” team player Xavier Womack was named the most valuable basketball player of the match. He scored 24 points, had 6 assists, and 22 rebounds.
In the match for third place, the basketball players of BCMA were strong. They were behind the opponent during the game against “Dvin,” but thanks to their willful qualities in the end, they gained an advantage over the opponent with a difference of only 3 points, 94:91.
The title of the most valuable basketball player of the match was awarded to Yura Melikyan, a player of the BCMA team. He scored 19 points, had 5 assists, and 21 rebounds.
A-League President Ara Poghosyan awarded the winners. The best in the individual competition were also determined. The most valuable basketball player of the tournament is Davit Khachatryan (“Artik”), the coach is Gor Movsisyan (“Artik”), the best young basketball player is Hayk Karakhanyan (“Artik”), the best Armenian basketball player and best player is Daniil Gevorgyan (“Urartu”).
Summing up the tournament, Ara Poghosyan emphasizes that he could not have imagined the semi-finals and the final could be so interesting.
“The fight for the 3rd place was also spectacular, the winner was decided in the last seconds, the final was tense until the end and it was not known who would be the first. “Artik” was strong because it played with 6 people, 5 were on the field, and the 6th were the fans, who came in large numbers to support,” Poghosyan admits.
Gor Movsisyan, the best coach of the finished A-League championship, who won the championship title with “Artik,” says that they were able to have a good season thanks to the team’s hard work and the fans’ support.
“It turned out to be a very difficult final, but in the end we found a way to close the opponent, thanks to which we won,” says the coach.
According to him, the A-League turned out to be very spectacular, especially the playoff matches. Gor Movsisyan notes that he is satisfied with all his basketball players, who stood out with a practical and stunning game. “We have a unique center, Davit Khachatryan; the Womack brothers played very well, at first they didn’t adapt to Armenian basketball and the conditions of Artik, but then they started to perform well and accepted the team like a family member. Defender Mkhitar Vardanyan has his own place, and Haykaz Grigoryan makes very good secret passes. And, of course, our young people, who are promising and will shine in a few years.”
It should be noted that Gor Movsisyan’s team earlier won the Armenian Super Cup.
