Renatas Pozhela emphasized the close relations with Armenia within the framework of the EU

Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Arpine Sargsyan received the delegation of the Lithuanian Ministry of Internal Affairs Police, headed by the Chief Commissioner of the Police, General Renatas Pozhela. The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Lithuania to Armenia, Andrius Pulokas, was also present at the meeting.

Welcoming the guests, Arpine Sargsyan emphasized the close cooperation of the Armenian-Lithuanian law enforcement structures and presented the details of the formation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia, the subordinate services of the police, the rescue service and the reforms of the migration and citizenship service. The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs highly appreciated the European Union’s “Support to RA Law Enforcement and Security Sector Reforms” program, which the Republics of Lithuania and Latvia will implement within the framework of the Comprehensive and Extended Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and in line with EU best practice priorities, the main goals of which are to support the formation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and subject to extensive reforms underway in the three bodies.

Chief Commissioner of Police, General Renatas Pojela, thanked for the warm welcome and emphasized the close relations both bilaterally and within the EU. Renata Pozhela, on behalf of the Lithuanian police, expressed readiness to support the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia. Commander of the State Border Guard Service of Lithuania, General Rustamas Liubazhevas, Director of the Migration Department Evelina Gudzinskaite, and Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Lithuania to Armenia Andrius Pulokas emphasized close cooperation with Armenia. They expressed hope that their visit would contribute to strengthening bilateral relations.

At the meeting, Deputy Chief of Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Vardan Vardanyan presented the reforms implemented in the Criminal Police and mentioned the structure, personnel policy, and unit service details. In that direction, Vardan Vardanyan emphasized the interest of the Armenian side in implementing the Lithuanian experience. At the meeting, the parties also discussed the establishment of the Police Guard, cooperation in the field of migration and citizenship, and other issues of mutual interest.
