The President of the Republic, Vahagn Khachaturyan, received the executive director of the Armenian Assembly of America, Brian Ardun, the co-chairs of the Armenian Assembly of America, Anthony Barsamyan and Carolyn Mugar, and the director of the regional office of the Armenian Assembly of America, Arpi Vardanyan.
Welcoming the guests, President Vahagn Khachaturyan noted that he is always happy to receive the delegates of the Assembly and is very familiar with the practical and essential activities of the Armenian Assembly of America since the 90s. The president, in particular, emphasized that Congress has always stood by the state and selflessly implemented and is implementing many programs.
During the meeting, President Khachaturyan presented to the guests the current security challenges of Armenia and the general situation in the Armenian-Azerbaijani negotiation process. The President stressed that Armenia is open in its relations with all partners, including the USA and European Union countries, and has a clear position on establishing stable and lasting peace in the region.
The President of the Republic noted that the work of the Armenian Congress of America is valuable and essential for providing the American and, in general, the international community with objective information about Armenia, our region, and the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh.
During the conversation, thoughts were exchanged about the relations between Armenia and neighboring countries and the general atmosphere prevailing in the country. Touching upon the possibility of opening the border with Turkey, the president emphasized that Armenia is acting from the starting point of normalizing relations without preconditions and is committed to that approach.
President Vahagn Khachaturyan also answered the guests’ questions in an unpretentious atmosphere, referring to various realities regarding the country’s internal political, economic, and public life.
