NA Vice President Ruben Rubinyan stated that Armenia and Azerbaijan continue to disagree on the central issues of the peace treaty.
The Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly added that Armenia should have a peace agreement based on its interests as soon as possible. There are three most fundamental points for the Armenian side.
“The first is to put a concrete map based on mutual recognition of territorial integrity. The second is addressing the rights and security of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh, which we believe should take place through the Baku-Stepanakert dialogue with an international mechanism. The third is the Institute of Guarantees,” said Rubinyan.
Referring to the Washington negotiations, Rubinyan said, “We expect progress. Armenia’s position is that we want to have such a text of the peace treaty that would be in our interests and possible to sign. Naturally, the process is complicated; there are issues on which there are disagreements. There are also issues on which there are already agreements. But there are still disagreements on the main issues.”
