The NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations is discussing the project to ratify the agreement on mutual visa-free travel between Armenia and Georgia for the citizens of the two states.
The latter aims to simplify the mutual visits of citizens in the territories of the two states as much as possible. Accordingly, citizens of Armenia and Georgia can make mutual visits not only with passports but also with identification cards.
Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan noted that this project stems from the government’s 2021-26 plan, according to which Armenia wants to deepen relations with Georgia.
He reminded that the agreement was signed on January 12, 2023, “The Georgian side has already completed the domestic procedures. In Armenia, the project has passed constitutional control and has now been submitted to the National Assembly for approval.”
Sargis Khandanyan, chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, also noted, “The Parliament of Georgia has already ratified the project. It will come into force at the beginning of next month, and the President of Georgia will also sign it before then. Thanks to this project, the lives of hundreds of citizens will be easier, and they can travel to Georgia with identification cards.”
