Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed the latest provocations of Azerbaijan at the start of the government session.
He reminded that installing an illegal checkpoint in the Lachin Corridor and blocking natural gas and energy supplies to Karabakh exacerbated the humanitarian situation to an extreme extent, “If during the previous month, Azerbaijan provided some access through the Lachin Corridor through the Red Cross and Russian peacekeepers for propaganda purposes, since yesterday, this access has also been reduced to zero. Even the supply of essential food to NK has been stopped,” he said, adding that not only food does not enter NK, but also those in need of urgent medical assistance are not allowed to pass through the Lachin Corridor.
Pashinyan noted that these actions once again justify the fear that Azerbaijan is conducting a policy of ethnic cleansing in Nagorno-Karabakh, “However, in this case, it is not about fear but the start of actions. How does ethnic cleansing happen?” he said.
He mentioned that their reaction to this situation should also raise international awareness at the level of organizations, foreign governments, and societies, “The Baku-Stepanakert dialogue, necessary for ensuring the rights and security of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh, within the framework of the international mechanism, is critical, and we should hope that concrete steps will be taken in this direction.”
According to the Prime Minister, at the same time, the work towards normalizing relations with Azerbaijan and establishing peace should be continuous.
