The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Armenia, Nilakshi Saha Sinha, presented her credentials to the President of the Republic, Vahagn Khachaturian.
The President of the Republic, welcoming the newly appointed ambassador, congratulated her on his appointment to a responsible position and wished her success.
In his speech, the president, in particular, noted: “Relations with India are important for Armenia. It is no coincidence that Armenia and India established diplomatic relations shortly after independence. Our relations have dynamically developed during these years in all political, economic, and cultural spheres. I am sure we will achieve new successes with joint work because the readiness on both sides is very high. It is noticeable, especially in the activity of our relations in the last six months.”
Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome, Ambassador Nilakshi Saha Sinha conveyed to President Khachaturian the warm greetings of the President of the Republic of India, Draupadi Murmu. “As you mentioned, our cooperation in several directions: political, economic, and cultural, is quite active, and as you emphasized, a deepening of these relations has been observed recently.
I assure you that during my term of office, I will do my best to deepen these relations and cover a much larger scope than it is now,” the ambassador noted.
During the meeting, issues related to the fields of Armenian-Indian cooperation were discussed. The need to continuously realize the great potential of trade-economic, political, educational, and cultural interaction between Armenia and India was emphasized. From this point of view, the importance of launching a direct air connection between Armenia and India, the development of parliamentary diplomacy, and high-level mutual visits were emphasized.
During the conversation, President Khachaturyan referred to the regional realities and presented the newly appointed ambassador with details about the humanitarian crisis caused by the Azerbaijani side’s blockade of the Lachin humanitarian corridor.
The closer cooperation between Armenia and India on international platforms and the joint work on agenda issues were emphasized on both sides.
