“The humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh continues to be tense,” RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that gas and electricity supplies had been stopped.
The Prime Minister referred to yesterday’s incident in the Lachin Corridor when people traveling from Goris to Stepanakert were not allowed to return to their homes, “The incident of the previous day once again recorded that the international court’s judgment is not being implemented, and we must continue our diplomatic efforts arising from this.”
Referring to the Kornidzor-Tegh road connecting the Lachin Corridor, Pashinyan noted that, as a result, the protection of the approximately 12 km section of the Armenia-Azerbaijani border should be undertaken by the border guard troops, “During the assumption of direct protection of the border, as is known, certain problems arose, which was reported by the National Security Service, emphasizing that during the deployment of both sides, misreading of maps appeared. In some places, the Azerbaijani side had positioned itself and carried out engineering works 100-300 meters before the border in the territory of the Republic of Armenia. After that, it was agreed that cartographers from both sides would correct the situation. During this period, work was carried out toward border guards’ deployment points, and the situation has somewhat improved. In particular, the location points for 7 km out of 12 km have been clarified, and the works on 5 km are ongoing. Our disposition has been and continues to be to avoid escalating the situation. I hope that the adjustment of the location points will be carried out in a constructive atmosphere. At least, this is our attitude,” said Nikol Pashinyan.
According to him, solid nerves and restraint are needed to not pay tribute to the forces interested in exploding the regional situation.
