The US National Security Council spokesperson referred to the anti-government demonstrations in Israel, the dismissal of the Minister of Defense, and the nationwide protest against Netanyahu, aimed at the changes in the judicial system, with which the government wants to subjugate this system.
“We are deeply concerned about today’s developments around Israel, further emphasizing the urgent need for compromises. As the President recently discussed with Prime Minister Netanyahu, democratic values have always been and must remain a hallmark of US-Israel relations. We strongly urge Israeli leaders to find a compromise as soon as possible. We believe that is the best way forward for Israel and all its citizens. US support for Israel’s security and democracy remains unwavering,” the statement said.
