On February 10, members of the Standing Committee on European Integration of the National Assembly, Mary Galstyan, Arsen Torosyan, Sona Ghazaryan, Armen Gevorgyan, and Tatevik Gasparyan, led by the chairman of the committee, Arman Yeghoyan, met the head of the European Union delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Andrea Victorin.
The MPs thanked the European Union, represented by the ambassador, for sending the European Union mission to Armenia, for the recently adopted reports in the European Parliament, and for the continuous support provided to Armenia. Andrea Victorin thoroughly presented the objectives of the civil mission, expectations from it, and other details. He noted that the mission’s representatives would focus on health, physical safety, and other issues of residents of border areas.
The parties discussed the “Resilient Syunik Team Europe Initiative,” whose initial budget for the next five years is around 51 million euros. The importance of the programs implemented for the residents of Syunik and other regions was emphasized. Reference was made to the health and education sectors, and the work was carried out in the direction of vulnerable groups in both executive and legislative bodies.
The representatives of the National Assembly were also interested in the visa liberalization process and spoke about the obstacles to obtaining a Schengen entry permits in Armenia. Also on the agenda were the implementation process of the Armenia-European Union Comprehensive and Extended Partnership Agreement, the reforms launched in several areas, and many other issues.
