The Constitutional Reforms Council and Constitutional Reforms Commission have already held numerous sessions and discussions and managed to make decisions around various issues, Minister of Justice Grigor Minasyan said.
“This process stands out by the fact that a new approach was adopted, two bodies were launched, the council for making public-political decisions which is comprised from representatives of various stakeholder bodies, political – including non-parliamentary forces, and civil society, and the commission as a specialized body comprised from experienced jurists for conducting specialized research within the framework of the directions set by the council and developing the concept and bill of constitutional reforms. Besides, the council and the commission are working in highly transparent conditions with the use of unprecedented democratic instruments – providing live broadcast of their joint sessions,” Minasyan said.
The council is now discussing the commission’s reports.
Minasyan highlighted the fact that during the discussions it was decided to chose the parliamentary model of administration as a conceptual direction.
“The council has also discussed several important issues related to the presidency and foundations of constitutional order. As a result it was decided to mostly leave the current regulations pertaining to the institution of the president unchanged, with several changes,” Minasyan said.
