A new penitentiary will be opened in Armenia within three years, Minister of Justice Grigor Minasyan said.
Asked to specify on the development of the project, Minasyan told ARMENPRESS that authorities already have the preliminary technical drawing and 3D model of the prison.
“We’ve developed the concept and inmate schedule of the new correctional facility, and an engineering-geological research was conducted in the location where the buildings will be built. There’s an open bid for procuring the blueprint-estimating documents. It is planned to commission the new correctional facility during the next three years,” Minasyan said.
The new prison will house both convicted criminals and remanded persons. It will also have a medical unit.
