In the fifth year of the war against Ukraine, amid sanctions and economic hardship, Russia has set a new record for the number of billionaires and their combined wealth.
Since the start of the war against Ukraine, the number of dollar billionaires in Russia has increased by 26 percent. This data is presented in the 2026 rating of the Russian edition of Forbes magazine. Currently, there are 155 dollar billionaires in Russia, while in 2021, on the eve of the war, their number was 123. Their combined wealth has also reached $696.5 billion. Despite the war and sanctions, this figure has increased by 11% over the past year.
This year’s list is led by Alexei Mordashov, the head of Severstal, together with his family. His fortune is estimated at $37 billion. According to Forbes, this is the first time that a Russian businessman’s wealth has exceeded $30 billion.
In second place is Vladimir Potanin, the head of Nornickel ($29.7 billion), and in third place is Vagit Alekperov, the founder of Lukoil ($29.5 billion). The top ten also includes Leonid Mikhelson, Suleiman Kerimov, Vladimir Lisin, Gennady Timchenko, Andrey Melnichenko, Mikhail Fridman, and Alisher Usmanov.
The richest Russian woman remains Tatyana Kim, the founder of the online store Wildberries, who occupies 23rd place with a fortune of $8.1 billion.
