On February 18, Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan received a delegation led by Ambassador Vasilis Maragos, Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia.
Arpine Sargsyan highly appreciated the close cooperation with the EU, highlighting the implementation of joint programs and the results recorded in specific areas.
The Minister of Internal Affairs presented the work carried out by Armenia towards visa liberalization and reaffirmed the commitment to continue the outlined steps consistently.
Referring to the partnership with EU structures Frontex and Europol, Minister Sargsyan highlighted the importance of Armenia appointing a liaison officer to Europol to strengthen it.
Ambassador Maragos thanked the Minister of Internal Affairs for the effective cooperation, emphasizing the visible results recorded jointly.
Measures aimed at combating illicit drug trafficking and opportunities to expand partnerships were discussed.
During the meeting, details of the upcoming visit of the EU Commissioner for Home Affairs and Migration, Magnus Brunner, to Armenia were also discussed, marking the start of a new phase of cooperation.
