SRC Chairman Eduard Hakobyan hosted the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Armenia, Khalil Shirgholami.
“Congratulating the Ambassador on his appointment, I expressed hope that his activities will contribute to the further strengthening and development of traditionally friendly Armenian-Iranian relations.
During the meeting, we discussed several key areas of cooperation to facilitate cross-border trade between the two countries. We also touched upon the expediency of mutual recognition of authorized economic operators and steps aimed at implementing this program.
During the conversation, I noted that, as a result of the implemented reforms, we have recorded significant increases in average daily truck throughput as well as, thanks to mutual agreements, in trade turnover between the Republic of Armenia and the Islamic Republic of Iran. Within the framework of the ongoing reforms, it is planned to completely re-equip the border with new equipment within the coming year.”
