The civic society registered its next victory not letting Nono from Ashtarak become the director of Khosrov State preserve.
Aram Amatuni in his political analysis states that there will be people who will find this achievement insignificant and they will not actually be absolutely wrong. The real change, as Amatuni believes, would be the resigning of Serzh Sargsyan, otherwise he makes changes in different spheres whereas himself remains the same.
Amatuni states the opposition may not be as functionally feasible for the real change in the country but these small victories are important because they raise the self-esteem and recognition of who the people are for themselves.
Amatuni mentions the civic achievements have a great potential even when being small in their significance because it can motivate a base for accumulating energy to solve bigger and significant solutions to different political and social problems.
The influence of the opposition is great in this matter because these civic cells which are able to shift the direction of the social life can be rationally used by the opposition which is absolutely not suitable for the incumbent ruling government.
The government prefers the model which is used by the political parties, rather than the one adopted by the civic society. The political parties are ready for a profitable deal only they should be given more favorable conditions. Amatuni mentions the history of the Armenian political life in recent years is the vivid example of it. That is why it is more convenient for the government to use the previous political parties’ method rather than go for compromises with the civic society.
Amatuni concludes, the more the civic society resistance is large in its volume, the more compromises will be achieved with the government because along with the motivation of the civic society, the opposition, in case not using the political parties, increases its power in the state. The government will no longer propose a deal if the civic activism is comprehensive and strong. This is one of the problems the civic society faces today.
