The “Sustainable Energy for Climate Resilient Community Development in Armenia” program was officially launched on Tuesday with the contract signing ceremony. The program will be implemented by the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ), with funding from the Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development of the GDR (BMZ) and the European Union.
The “SE4Resilience” program is not just about promoting sustainable energy production in Armenia. It’s about empowering cities and communities to be resilient against ever-changing climate conditions. In his welcome speech, Deputy Ambassador Eric Tintrup underscored the crucial role of communities and the most vulnerable people living next to us who are at the forefront of climate change. This program is a beacon of hope, demonstrating that a just and sustainable perspective on energy production is possible and necessary when all actors, places, and societal groups are heard and engaged.
RA Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration Vache Terteryan, European Neighborhood Policy, and Enlargement Negotiations Commissioner Gert Jan Kopman, EU Ambassador to Armenia Vasilis Maragos, Director of GIZ Armenia Office Madeleine Rauschenberger also participated in the ceremony.
