The RPA speaker, vice-president of the NA Eduard Sharmazanov spread a message.
According to him, Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s decision not to run was expected. “Nevertheless, the recent years have shown that Ter-Petrosyan is going to leave the politics. It is another thing that he is trying to do it in a little different way; by banging the door hardly. However, as it didn’t work he is trying to find some other ways of doing it,” says Sharmazanov, recalling that he was teaching his students of the history faculty to distinguish opportunity and reason.
The RPA speaker also mentioned in his announcement that the nomination of the ANC leader would just be a political suicide especially in conditions when neither ANC, nor Levon Ter-Pterosyan have any serious influence on the public. Sharmazanov doesn’t also agree with Ter-Petrosyan’s explanations of not nominating, given earlier to the press, about his being 68 years old and some other reasons that he didn’t want to talk about.
Summarizing his speech Sharmazanov said that there is only one reason for such decision. That is, Ter-Petrosyan realized that he cannot make the same “political furor” that he made in 2008. As according to Shiller: “The Moor has done his duty, let him go.”
About the ANC leader’s announcement that Serzh Sargsyan will not be legitimate, Eduard Sharmazanov answered, that it is only a saying of an offended and retiring general.
