The special general session of the ARF has just finished, which was launched this morning. In this meeting the ARF had to decide the plan of its participation in the elections.
In the interview with the “First News and Analyses” the secretary general of the ARF parliamentary faction Aghvan Vardanyan said that the decision about the upcoming elections has been made, however the information will be publicized tomorrow on the press conference.
Note that in the recent weeks the ARF had declared a platform consisting of 7 points, and announced that they will support that force or that candidate, who will guarantee to accept and implement those suggestions. At the same time ARF mentioned that they think that this project could be better done by them, which means that may nominate a candidate for the elections.
By the way, the ARF Bureau representative Hrant Margaryan and ARF Supreme Body representative Armen Rustamyan met with Serzh Sargsyan and discussed their platform, after which they declared that 2 of the points were not accepted by the president. They also talked about nominating their own candidate, which might be A. Rustamyan.
It is also worthy to mention that A. Rustamyan was the first politician, who announced 2 months ago that it might be a good idea to discuss the option of the boycott of the presidential elections as well.
Recently the second largest parliamentary party “Prosperous Armenia” announced about its decision not to run in the elections. Then it was ANC leader, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, who is not going to be nominated. And it is possible that tomorrow ARF will also announce about its non-participation. And this will turn out to be a boycott of the 2013 presidential elections.
