The member of the commission on ethics of the NA Artsvik Minasyan reported on December 21 the commission on ethics of the NA presented a proposal against PAP member Mikayel Melkumyan. The commission has 30 days to consider and announce the verdict.
The case was initiated by “strategic center of planning” NGO head Hrant Melik-Shahnazaryan who states Melkumyan violated the 65th article (part 1) of the Constitution of the RA which excludes the MPs to have their own businesses. Melkumyan rejected he had any business, however with the help of panorama.am it was found out that Melkumyan personally gives for rent his own buildings Mashtots-Koryun streets.
After it was clear, Melkumyan ceased to come to the NA sessions and did not appear there for a very long time. Nor did his secretary was answering any questions.
Naira Zohrabyan rejects the news that Melkumyan is not present at the sessions and says the news do not match the reality. She also added giving a territory for rent is not a business.
It is interesting to mention that the ethics commission and panorama.am are under the supervision of RP member Davit Harutyunyan who voted against the decision. Moreover, Hrant Melik-Shahnazaryan, who initiated the case, was said to be very pro-government opinion on the case.
It turns out Melkuyman was used during Tsarukyan’s probable candidacy discussions, when he is out already, the RP gets to its previous policies.
