Azerbaijani sources report that State Secretary of Norway Eirik Owre Thorshaug, who is in an official visit to Georgia, visited the Defense Ministry of Georgia.
The Norwegian side held meetings with Defense Minister Irakli Alasania and other high-level officials of the Ministry.
According to the information, representatives of the two countries signed 2013 Bilateral Defense Cooperation Plan.
The parties discussed the issues of regional security environment, Georgia`s NATO integration and reforms ongoing in the field of defense.
Irakli Alasania highlighted Defense Ministry`s new priorities, according to which more attention will be paid to their rights, social conditions and safety of military servicemen.
A full adoption of Defense Ministry will be implemented and a civil control over the armed forces will be intensified.
He added that NATO interoperability and integration process will continue. The Georgian contingent will stay in Afghanistan to carry out the mission within the ISAF operation.
Recall that Georgia has been cooperating with the Norwegian side since 2010. Norway suupports Georgia in terms of human resources management, National Guard reserve and mobilization as well as military education.
