Azerbaijani media reports that Azerbaijani Ambassador to the United States, Elin Suleymanov, had several meetings with the state officials within his visit to the State of Illinois.
The representatives of State authorities, respected businessmen and members of the Turkish Diaspora as well as Israeli and Australian consuls general to Chicago attended the lunch hosted by Speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives Michael Madigan in honor of Azerbaijani diplomat.
As reported, during the meeting ambassador Elin Suleymanov gave information about the geopolitical position, foreign policy directions, bilateral relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the United States at the lunch. The diplomat, characterizing Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline as the most successful project of the United States in the region, stated the importance of the political support of the United States to realize current energy projects particularly Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline project.
Within the scope of the visit Azerbaijani Ambassador also met with the governor of the State of Illinois Pat Quin, prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the State of Illinois were discussed. The Governor said that mutual investments, exchange of students, establishment of bilateral relations between universities of Azerbaijan and the State of Illinois would be very productive.
Azerbaijani diplomat talked about successful energy diplomacy of Azerbaijan and current energy and infrastructure projects.
The source informs that during the meeting Nagorno-Karabakh conflict was also discussed and according to Suleymanov Armenia’s involvement energy and infrastructure projects can also be productive, but the first condition for this is the solution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
