The publishing house Antares has released “I am Clothed in God, Inside and Out: Grigor Narekatsi”, a new book by the writer and historical novelist Sasun Vardanyan. Published with the support of Armeconombank, the book unveils to the modern reader the profound sources that shaped Grigor Narekatsi’s aesthetic views and philosophies.
Sasun Vardanyan is the author of more than a dozen books, including short stories, fairy tales, novellas, and novels. “As the ultimate expression of the human soul, Narekatsi deserves a unique approach. The field of Narekatsi studies, which began spontaneously, must now consciously reach its zenith,” the author notes in the book.
“By turning to our genius, Grigor Narekatsi, Sasun Vardanyan sought to educate. The author refutes all theories suggesting that Narekatsi created his works under the influence of Arabic, Persian, or Greek cultures. Knowing that the leadership of Armeconombank upholds national values, I was confident they would appreciate and support the publication of this book. I express my deepest gratitude for making the publication of this book a reality,” notes Sasun Vardanyan’s wife, writer and publicist Silva Sukiasyan, who dedicated herself to finalizing the book’s publication following her husband’s passing.
“For Armeconombank, such initiatives are an investment in the preservation of our cultural heritage. Narekatsi remains a cornerstone symbol of Armenian identity, and Sasun Vardanyan’s work offers a valuable opportunity to discover him anew. I am delighted that Armeconombank took part in the publication of such a valuable book,” states Arman Tonikyan, Head of Marketing at Armeconombank.
The book is not for sale. It will be distributed to the libraries of the Mekhitarist Congregation in Venice, Congress in Washington, the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, the Matenadaran, and the National Library of Armenia, as well as to various university libraries and the municipal libraries of Gyumri, Goris, and Vanadzor.
