“BP is fully faithful to its commitments in Azerbaijan”, – said to the Azerbaijani media BP-Azerbijan company manager of public relations Tamam Bayatli, commenting on the statement of President of Azerbaijan that British Petroleum company is guilty for the decrease in production in the country.
In her words, BP is working in close collaboration with the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan, to stabilize production at offshore “Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli” block in a short term.
Meanwhile, former assistant to ex-President Heydar Aliyev’s political analyst Eldar Namazov told in an interview, that British Petroleum company is not to blame for the drop in oil production in Azerbaijan, as a sharp decline in production is in accordance with pre-established plan.
“After signing of the oil “contract of the century “, a special plan was developed, which provided that the extraction will grow for some time, reaching its peak, it will last at this level for a while and then begin to decline. Several years ago, the Azerbaijani leadership proudly announced 25 percent rise in production. This growth was unique. The governance is well aware that production will continue to fall until it reaches 1 percent. This is not surprising, “- said Namazov.
In his opinion, frictions between the Azerbaijani government and British Petroleum have no political motive. “Not political, but psychological factors play here.”
Note that yesterday President Ilham Aliyev at the Cabinet meeting strongly criticized British Petroleum company for the reduction of oil, which is headed by an international consortium of oil production at the fields “Azeri”, “Chirag” and “Guneshli”.
