Azerbaijani media reports that Azerbaijan refused to participate in the “International Mine Countermeasures Exercise 2012” in Persian Gulf conducted by militaries from 30 countries including the USA on September 16-27.
Though Azerbaijan had been proposed, Baku refused to participate in the exercise.
Note, the exercise conducted on 16- 27 September focused on simulation of opportunities to eliminate possible threat of mining by Iran in the gulf.
Militaries and observers from 30 nation participated in the Exercise. Caspian Sea countries were represented only by Kazakhstan.
