Bidzina Ivanishvili said on Monday that Georgian Dream coalition supports the peace process, which is conducted by the co-chairs of the Geneva talks.
“As soon as the new government is formed, we will actively participate in these meetings and will work constructively with all parties to the Geneva format for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia taking into account the government interest. We want to note the positive role of the EU observer mission in preserving security and stability and to declare full readiness to work closely with it,” Ivanishvili said.
On October 11-12 will be next meeting of the Geneva format.
The Geneva talks were summoned after the conflict in Georgia in August 2008. On August 8 military actions were preceded in the Georgian region of South Ossetia. Later Russian troops occupied the city of Tskhinvali, withdrew the Georgian military, and then recognized the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
In response, Tbilisi severed diplomatic relations with Moscow and proclaimed the two unrecognized republics as occupied territories.
