Azerbaijani Turan News Agency reports that General Secretary of Council of Europe, Thorbjørn Jagland yesterday, October 4, had a meeting with journalists and made a sensational announcement.
“If it is true that Azerbaijan has “bought” members of the PACE delegation with their “black caviar” then it is absolutely unacceptable! The parliament and its members must be free in their will, and each of them personally must be responsible for his actions. ”
Talking about such things, Jagland stressed that he can’t be involved in the works of PACE, since it is a free organization.
The comments came after the Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe (PACE) has adopted a resolution following a report on political prisoners in Azerbaijan. The document adopted by PACE sets forth, for the first time, a concrete definition for political prisoners.
