Bidzina Ivanishvili called upon supporters of the Georgian Dream coalition to stop their protest actions, Georgian media reports.
“Protest marches of our supporters and those of the former opposition continue in Georgian regions. We are not an opposition anymore, we represent the government. The street marches are usually organised by opposition. I call on them to stop all action. Let’s solve all our problems in courts and parliament,” Ivanishvili stated.
He added, ‘We have to take office in a graceful way after the heroism and courage shown by the Georgian people during the elections.”
Parliamentary elections were held in Georgia on a mixed – list, majority system. Around 150 MPs must be elected – 77 on the lists (a passing barrier of five per cent) and 73 – single-seat constituencies.
According to data of Georgian Central Election Committee, after the complete count of preliminary information, Georgian Dream candidates are leading in 38 majority districts and the United National Movement leaders- in 34 districts.
