Turkish mass media reports that the chief editor of Turkish famous “Haber Turk” mass media (TV, paper, website) Fatih Aytali, who owns Varagavanq monastery complex (7 churches) finally compromised and agreed to give back Varagavanq.
Yesterday several socialists protested in front of “Haber Turk” office in Istanbul. They declared that they are all Armenians and demanded to return the monastery taken from them after the Genocide in 1915.
Fatih Aytal gave in saying- the church is yours. He announced that after getting corresponding solicitation, he is ready to give the church to the Armenian Patriarchate of Constantinople or to the ministry of culture and tourism of Turkey.
We remind that state department of Van had turned to the corresponding body to get permission for the renovation of Varagavanq. Then it turned out that the church belongs to Fatih Aytali who was insisting that the church is his heritage which has inherited from his ancestor.
