Azerbaijan won’t permit Israel or any other country to use its air and overland territory for attacking Iran or any other country, announced the Azerbaijani ambassador to Pakistan Dashgin Shikarov. “It’s not worth even thinking about it because part of Iranian population are refugees from Azerbaijan. Besides Azerbaijan leads a policy of not interfering in the affairs of another country, said the ambassador to the Pakistani paper The News.
Earlier “Reuters” published an article where it was said that Azerbaijan and Israel are discussing variants of the exploitation of the military bases in Azerbaijan in case of an attack against Iran. According to Shikarov there can be no doubt that Azerbaijan as a member of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIS) won’t let use its territory against another member-country.
The possibility to use the air bases in Azerbaijani territory by Israel was denied also by the ministries of Defense and foreign affairs. “Azerbaijan’s position concerning neighboring countries is the same based on friendship and Azerbaijan will never permit a third country to use its air territory against neighboring state.”- announced the press secretary of FM of Azerbaijan Elman Abdulaev.
