Director of the Center for Regional Studies, political scientist, Richard Kirakosyan had an interview with journalists, concerning Armenia’s policy after the recent events in the region.
According to him it would be wrong to have a one-sided cognition Karabakh’s independence.
“After Safarov’s extradition, one thing became obvious, Karabakh cannot be a part of Azerbaijan, and fortunately it is independent,” said Kirakosyan and added:
“If Armenia decides to recognize Nagorno-Karabakh it will put a great tension in the region, and I’m sure that there won’t be any peaceful negotiation”.
Kirakosyan also noted that Karabakh can have a good future only if it joins Armenia, and becomes one of the regions of Armenia.
“Since Karabakh is not yet a developed country, it can’t survive being alone, and after becoming independent country it will be certainly attacked by our enemies.”
During the meeting, Kirakosyan also touched upon the issue, whether there will be a new war between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
“There is always a threat of war, and we should always be ready!”
