Georgian media recalls that there are tensions in Georgia, ahead of the upcoming elections, after a court fined billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili, head of opposition block, with more than $12 million, for an allegedly suspect cash withdrawal.
To the response of the tensions, EU foreign policy chief, Catherine Ashton, and Enlargement Commissioner, Štefan Füle, expressed concern in this context – “elections should be first of all about political programs and ideas.”
As reported, Ashton and Füle stressed that Georgia remained a key partner for the European Union, adding that the October 1 elections will “set the stage for the quality and intensity of our relations in the future.”
