In the government, Deputy Prime Ministers Mher Grigoryan and Tigran Khachatryan received the delegation led by the European Commission’s General Director for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Gert Jan Koopman. Ambassador Vassilis Maragos, the head of the EU delegation, and Ambassador Tigran Balayan, the head of the RA representation in the European Union, were also present at the meeting.
At the beginning of the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan emphasized the development of RA-EU relations, emphasizing the importance of the Comprehensive and Extended Partnership Agreement implementation process for implementing key reforms in the country.
Referring to the government’s efforts to provide stable and dignified living conditions for people forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh, Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan emphasized the importance of continuing cooperation with the EU in this direction, including within the framework of the tools of European financial institutions. Deputy Prime Minister Khachatryan also highly appreciated the cooperation with the European Union in implementing major infrastructure projects in Armenia, emphasizing their system-creating importance.
The importance of the RA-EU investment program coordination platform activities, which contributed to the active implementation and monitoring of the programs developed under the European Investment and Economic Plan, was noted.
The interlocutors emphasized the study and application of EU best practices and the need for Armenia’s participation in regional infrastructure projects. In this context, the interlocutors also referred to the Crossroads of Peace initiative and emphasized the prospects of sustainable development in the region in the event of lifting the blockade.
During the meeting, thoughts were exchanged on public administration reforms in Armenia, digitization, and the steps being taken to combat corruption.
