All the actions that the European Union carries out in Abkhazia are agreed with the Government of Georgia, said Deputy Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze, commenting on the fact that the EU is going to start cooperation with Abkhazia in the areas of agriculture, health and education.
“When the EU representatives come to the occupied territories, it is coordinated with the Government of Georgia. Actions, which they perform in Abkhazia are part of our strategy of engagement, which is carried out in close cooperation with us, “- explained the deputy minister.
According to her, there is no independent relationship between the EU and Abkhazia and there is no threat to the recognition of the territory’s status.
As previously reported, the EU plans to carry out projects in education, health and agriculture in Abkhazia. The issues of cooperation in these areas were discussed at the meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia Vyacheslav Chikirba with a delegation from the European Union in Sukhumi. The meeting also discussed the possibility of opening the center of the EU in Abkhazia.
