Today was the forth job fair held in Gyumri. Gyumri Theatre’s Hall was full of unemployed poeple. People despite age, profession and sex, hurried to take part at the fair, hoping to find a job.
32 employers attended the job fair. Sona Harutyunyan from “State Employment Service” has reported to “1in.am News and Analysis” that the unemployment rate remains the highest in Shirak province.
It is worth mentioning that there have always been announcements by the government, on reducing the high level of unemployment in Shirak. Especially in Gyumri, local authorities have announced for many times about the willingness of creating jobs. But, for example, Shirak region’s Governor general Ashot Giziryan was not present at the job fair. The vice governor Harutyun Arshakyan welcomed the participants instead.
Most of the unemployed people in Gyumri were again disappointed for this time, after studying the offers of all the empoyers and not finding a work suitable for their profession. “They want girls of 20-25 year old, beautiful, with long legs, I am 40year old and it means that I cannot work,” one of the women complained to “1in.am News and Analysis.”
