Today’s guest on «Radar-interview» is political scientist Hayk Sukiasyan.
Speaking about the parliamentary elections, Sukiasyan noted that before the start of the campaign, the situation was much more heated than during the campaign itself.
«Now each party is focused on itself, on its campaign. Until then, I suppose, all the bullets have been fired at each other. We, as a people and a state, have a peculiarity. In our political life, not only are such forces present and participating in elections that address the independence of Armenia and the state’s development, but we are also a people with a segment that is hostile to its own independence. They have simply organized themselves politically and are participating in our elections today.»
According to the political scientist, there is an opposition.
«The opposition is those parties that protect and are interested in the sovereignty of Armenia, democratic life. These are the political forces that restrain Russian reaction and aggression. That field, of course, is considered a pro-Western field, and there is a problem in it. I suppose there are “introduced” pro-Westerners, there are “introduced” autocrats who present themselves as defenders of the Western direction or supporters of developing relations with the United States, but underneath comes the roar of the Russian “Kalinka.»
Speaking about the pro-Russian forces, the political scientist noted that they are the autocrat’s enemy.
