The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of the Republic of Armenia and the Delegation of the European Union jointly present the current results of the reforms implemented within the framework of the financing agreement “EU Support to Education in Armenia”, recording systematic and tangible progress in the field of general education. The EU reports this.
One of the program’s key directions is the development of educational infrastructure. Construction and renovation works have already been carried out in 13 selected schools in the Kapan and Goris communities of the Syunik region, ensuring the implementation of more than half of the targets set for 2025.
Significant progress has also been made in improving the school management system. About 50 percent of state general education schools have switched to a new management system, and 346 principals have been appointed on the recommendation of professional committees, ensuring the transparency of the process and high professional standards.
A new financing mechanism has been introduced to effectively organize multi-grade classes, enabling the target result in this direction to be fully achieved.
To develop science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education, 231 schools in the Ararat, Kotayk, and Gegharkunik regions have been equipped with modern laboratories, ensuring the implementation of the program’s target indicators.
At the same time, about 9,000 teachers have been trained in accordance with new educational standards, ensuring the full implementation of the target goal in this direction as well.
Professional orientation programs have been introduced in all schools in the Republic of Armenia, covering grades 8-11, contributing to their professional orientation and conscious choice of further education.
Within the framework of modernizing educational content, about 27 percent of school projects are dedicated to the green economy and climate change, helping achieve the set target.
A new assessment system has been introduced in schools in the Republic of Armenia, ensuring the full achievement of the intended results. Based on the assessment of the above targets, the EU has allocated €8.55 million for education reforms.
The Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology reaffirms its commitment to continue educational reforms, ensuring quality, inclusive, and modern education for all citizens of the Republic of Armenia. The Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology emphasizes the close and effective cooperation established with the Delegation of the European Union to Armenia, which plays a significant role in the successful and targeted implementation of the EU budget support program.
