Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Armen Ghazaryan met with representatives of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid (DG ECHO) in Brussels.
Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Armen Ghazaryan and Director General of the organization Maciej Popowski signed an administrative agreement on cooperation in the field of civil protection between the Ministry of Internal Affairs and DG ECHO of the European Commission.
The agreement marks a new stage in cooperation in the field of civil protection, strengthening response capabilities and information exchange during emergencies.
“By signing the administrative arrangement, we are laying the foundation for further strengthening cooperation with the Directorate-General for Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations of the European Commission,” emphasized Armen Ghazaryan.
The agreement provides for support at all stages of disaster risk management, from prevention and preparedness to response and recovery.
“Our commitment to supporting Armenia in building a more resilient civil protection system is ongoing, which contributes not only to Armenia’s but also to the wider regional security,” noted Maciej Popowski.
Issues related to developing cooperation in the field of civil protection were discussed, in particular, in the areas of disaster risk reduction, the use of digital tools, preparedness, and rapid response to emergencies.
The parties also discussed opportunities for cooperation within the EU Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM), the exchange of experience, and the effective organization of joint actions.
Issues aimed at deepening administrative and technical cooperation, exchanging best practices, and improving coordination mechanisms during disasters were discussed.
