Easter is one of the five main feasts for the Armenian Apostolic Church.
On the eve of the feast of the Holy Resurrection, the Holy Liturgy of Candlemas is served in churches, marking the beginning of Easter celebrations.
The meaning of the other name of the feast of the Resurrection of Christ, Holy Easter, is that humanity was separated thanks to Christ, freed from the slavery of sin, and received the greatest gift – eternal life. The Resurrection of Jesus Christ is the foundation of Christianity. Since that moment, Easter has been celebrated for almost two thousand years as liberation, repentance from sins, and a return to God.
This holiday also symbolizes the arrival of spring and awakening.
It should be noted that on Easter morning, the Holy Liturgy is served, after the end of which people announce to each other the joyful news of the Holy Resurrection, saying: “Christ is risen from the dead. Blessed is the Resurrection of Christ.”
