What is happening here now is unbelievable. The leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia have come together to share the Zayed Prize for Human Fraternity in recognition of the peace agreement signed by the two countries. This is how Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan began his speech at the award ceremony in Abu Dhabi.
“For almost 40 years, you would never have seen the words’ peace,’ ‘Armenia,’ and ‘Azerbaijan’ together, and even if these words were used together, it would essentially mean something incredible. That is why what happened in 2025 and is happening now is excellent,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
According to him, the ceremony is not just about celebrating the peace agreement. “It is also a confirmation by Armenia and Azerbaijan of the fact that the page of the conflict is closed,” he said.
According to the Prime Minister, although the prize is given to the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan, it belongs to both peoples.
“Incredible things happen when there is faith, commitment, vision, and wisdom. I think the peace agreement was signed because Armenia and Azerbaijan understood that the conflict must stop now, otherwise it will never stop, bringing new suffering to both countries and peoples,” he said.
