During his working visit to the US state of Utah, the Armenian Ambassador to the US, Narek Mkrtchyan, was invited to the inaugural session of the state Senate as an honored guest. Republican Senator Michael McKell introduced Ambassador Mkrtchyan to the Senate members. In his introductory remarks, Senator McKell referred to the Washington Declaration of August 8, 2025, highlighting it as a significant step towards strengthening regional peace.
Senator McKell particularly emphasized the role of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in the peace process, in recognition of which he also mentioned the awarding of the 2026 Zayed Prize for Human Fraternity to the Prime Minister.
Senate President Stuart Adams, welcoming the Ambassador, noted significant progress in Armenia’s democratic development, emphasizing that the United States welcomes the strengthening of democracy in Armenia and will continue to support the spread of democratic values around the world.
