He noted that the results did not meet expectations, but he left with respect, gratitude, and the conviction that he had done his best.
“This professional phase is coming to an end, and it did not turn out as we would have liked. Coaching Real Madrid has been an honour and a responsibility.
I thank the club, the players, and especially the fans for their trust and support. I leave with respect, gratitude, and pride for having done everything I could,” Alonso wrote on his Instagram page.
It should be noted that the Spaniard was fired from Barcelona a day after the 3-2 defeat in the Spanish Super Cup final.
