Let’s welcome the EU’s involvement in infrastructure projects. Mirzoyan

On December 15, in Brussels, at the invitation of EU partners, RA Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan participated in a meeting held within the framework of the EU Foreign Ministers’ Council.

The discussion, in the format of a working breakfast, was attended by the Vice-President of the European Commission, the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, the EU Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, and heads and representatives of the foreign ministries of EU member states.

The meeting noted with satisfaction the significant results achieved in developing the RA-EU partnership and exchanged views on the upcoming tasks. Minister Mirzoyan highly appreciated the support and the consensus formed in the implementation of the RA-EU strategic partnership agenda and various joint initiatives.

During the discussion, EU member states expressed support for Armenia’s democratic development, resilience, and efforts to counter hybrid threats. In the context of regional developments, EU member-state partners expressed support for the process of unblocking communications, aimed at further consolidating peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

At the end of the meeting, Minister Mirzoyan made a statement to the press:

“I am happy to return to Brussels. Only two weeks have passed since the very successful Armenia-EU Partnership Council, during which we adopted the Strategic Agenda for the Armenia-EU Partnership, thereby raising our relations to a new level.

Today, at the Foreign Affairs Council, chaired by High Representative Kaja Kallas, together with the Member States, we discussed the main achievements of the Armenia-EU partnership, including the economy and stronger resilience, as well as security-related issues, including hybrid threats, and the support provided under the European Peace Facility.

We touched on all the topics currently critical in relations between Armenia and the European Union. We also assessed progress in the visa liberalization process, a topic that is very important for the citizens of the Republic of Armenia and for bringing Armenia closer to the European Union.

Of course, there is also the bigger picture: regional developments, the opening of communications between the countries of the South Caucasus, and the opportunities that arise. We discussed and would welcome the possible involvement of the EU in infrastructure projects.”
