Arsen Torosyan, deputy of the KP faction of the National Assembly, referred to the works of demarcation and demarcation, noting that they have been discussed before.
According to Torosyan, there are several reasons why the process should start with Tavush: “First, it is important to start that process because we can talk about demarcation forever and never start. I think it is in our interest to start it. Second, it is a significant, principled circumstance (which has been announced many times by the Foreign Ministry and the Prime Minister) that we make a bilateral decision on which maps we are guided by.”
According to him, if a decision is made to be guided by one map, they will work with the same map in other areas.
Torosyan assured, “It does not mean creating a new border, but there should be a legal and real fixation of the existing border.”
He also noted, “Unfortunately, due to Azerbaijan, an agreement on the selection of maps has not yet been reached.”
He also spoke about the Prime Minister’s meeting with the people of Tavush, emphasizing the importance of hearing all the questions from the head of the country: “We are not going to give any administrative settlement or territory that was within the borders of Soviet Armenia to any country.”
According to him, if the line passes through any territory under the control of one or the other side during the boundary, it should be returned to one or the other side mutually, by agreement of both sides.
